Tragedy in Naples: Man Dies After Failing to Stop at Red Light

Tragedy struck the Naples community this week when a 32-year-old man died after his pickup failed to stop at a red light. According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, the incident occurred Tuesday evening on the corner of Pine Ridge Road and Immokalee Drive.

The victim was identified as John Smith, an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family in Collier County. He had worked at various restaurants around town for many years before recently starting a new job as a delivery driver.

John had been driving home from work that evening when witnesses said they saw him approach an intersection where the traffic signal was green but suddenly turn red while he was still in the middle of it. Despite attempts by other drivers to alert him, John's vehicle continued through without stopping or slowing down - ultimately leading to deadly consequences when his truck collided into another car which was stopped for the red light on its side of the road.

Emergency crews were dispatched immediately following numerous 911 calls about what had happened, however despite their best efforts John passed away from severe injuries sustained during impact shortly upon arrival at Physicians Regional Medical Center located nearby on Airport Pulling Road North. The other driver involved in accident suffered minor injuries but is expected to make a full recovery within weeks time according to hospital staff members present during treatment.
